Formal Golfers Weather The Elements
As we know, golf is a fun for most people. It's always fun when we play at homecoming and at formal. This years formal golf outing was shaping up to be another year of excitement. There was a series of trash talking between the teams on Thursday night and during the week, and then everyone went to bed. They awoke Friday morning and noticed that Hurricane Soldwish had rolled through Ohio and dropped the temperatures about 40 degrees and flooded out the course we were supposed to

play. The teams were unfazed; they still wanted to play. We moved the tourney to a small 9-hole course outside of Perrysburg and the game was on. As we began to play the remnants of Hurricane Soldwish, now a Tropical Storm, began to lash the course with 35-40 MPH winds and a light misty rain. Ed Diebold and Lou Kuhnle turned in the two stellar performances of the day. They shot 35 and 37 respectively. That's good golf in that kind of weather! After the teams finished the front nine, all of the teams but two decided to head for Jed's to be warmed up by a frosty beverage. That was probably the best decision made all day! The group of Kuhnle, Schubert, Diebold, and Sweeney continued to play followed by Mallett and M. Todd Smith. After two more holes, it was raining so hard you could not see five feet in front of you, halting the play for the day.
