Corporation Schedule Set
The corporation officers, at the meeting held Sunday June the 4th, set the following dates for upcoming Alumni Corporation meetings. Those dates and times are as follows:
June 25th at Noon
July 30th at Noon
August 27th at Noon
September 24th at Noon
October 7th at 11:00 AM
November 19th at Noon
December 10th at Noon
The meetings will be held at the house except for possibly the October 7th homecoming meeting that may be held on campus due to size of attendance. We encourage all brothers that can possibly make any of these meetings to do so.
Work Weekend
Work Weekend occurred on June 24-25. The main project of laying 50 ton of stone in the parking lot has been completed. Thanks to all the generous brothers and alumni that gave their time to help rake and shovel all day, and a special thanks to those brothers who donated money to cover the total cost of the project. We nearly collected all of the money from donations to pay for this important project.

Financial State of the Corporation
By Current Treasurer
Mike Stack
First, I would like to commend Jim Rossi for the excellent job he did as treasurer. He kept the fraternity in excellent financial order during his time as treasurer. We currently have $4,398.16 in checking. The active chapter has paid rent through August of this year.
We currently have 41 due paying members, in comparison to 50 budgeted. This will produce a deficit of $360.00 in income. We have been lucky that several budgeted items have cost less than budgeted. Taking the difference of expenses and income into account, we will have about $338.35 remaining in our account at fiscal year end.
Please see the Dues and Donations article on page 5 for related information.
Great Job
Ken Armstrong, Rick King, Jim Rossi and Kevin Sweeney have been our Corporation Officers for the last two years. I would like to take this time to thank them on behalf of the actives and alumni for the great job that they did with the purchasing and remodeling of our new fraternity house.

Wilderness Weekend Continued
Millerys Ferry provides transportation to/from Middle Bass Island for $5.50 each way. Call (800) 500-2421 for more information. This will be the last year for Lonz Winery. It is being purchased by the State of Ohio and may be a state park in 2001. Entertainment for the weekend at Lonz will be Roberta’s Basement. If you get bored you can take a ferry to Put-In-Bay from Middle Bass Island or enjoy yourself at the campground, which has a pool, a lounge, an eatery and dancing. Sorry, no Gilligan this year! I would advise you to bring plenty of sun block so that you don’t wind up like Andy Rehn. If you have any questions feel free to call Art Balderas at (419) 872-5877 or send an email to oxtqworm@yahoo.com. Hope to see you there.

Letter From the President
As most of you know by now, we are the proud owners of a new fraternity house. The past 2 years have been spent researching property, working with our partners, renovating and moving into our new location. This is a huge accomplishment for us as a corporation. We have ensured that future members of the active chapter have a state of the art facility to be a part of. All of the major work is done, but there are some minor things to address, which we will talk about later.
Now that the house situation is solved, we need to get back to some of the other business of the corporation. At this point, we have 350+ members in our ranks. We grow from 10-15 each year. This is not a large number compared to other chapters, but it is large for us. Our focus needs to shift to our members, and what their needs are. We need to improve our communication efforts.
Our three goals as your alumni officers for the next year are as follows:
- Communicate with members of the alumni association
- Determine what the University of Findlay has in store for the Greek system
- Plan events that include ALL of our Alumni brothers, wives, and children.
The first goal may seem simple, but it is not. We need to strive to reach our membership and communicate what is taking place. It does not seem that brothers are always informed as to what is happening with the corporation. It has improved in the past few years, but it can be better.
The second goal is a must. The university is changing at a rapid pace. We need to change along with it. Many of the policies and procedures have changed in the past few years. The university is our partner. Without them, the active chapter cannot exist. Our goal is to work with the university in establishing a plan that ensures the survival of the Greek system on the University of Findlay’s campus. With such a plan, we can plan and build accordingly.
The third goal addresses our membership as a whole. We need to plan events that can involve as many of our members as possible. To do this, we need to establish dates far in advance to allow people to adjust their schedules so that they can attend. We need to plan events that cater not only to the brothers, but their wives and children as well, because family is a very important part of everyone’s lives. Everyone needs to feel welcome and enjoy their time while they visit.
At this past formal, a system was established that allows capital fund raising foundations to be established for various causes to benefit the alumni association. To establish a fund, any corporation member needs to establish a petition to the executive board that lists a clear statement of purpose, which is basically an explanation of what the fund is intended to do. Examples of funds could be asphalting of the parking lot, purchase of a central air conditioning unit, scholarships, and many other things. The "shareholders" that create the fund control each fund . This can serve as a way for brothers to contribute and control the money that they donate.
Finally, I’d like to say that if you have any questions, concerns, ideas, thoughts, etc about the future of our organization, please do not hesitate to contact any of the alumni corporation officers at the following numbers.
Kevin Sweeney – (419) 634-6561 Louis Kuhnle – (937) 644-9023
Mike Stack – (614) 554-5086 Jonathan Zimmerman – (419) 423-7101
Fraternally,
Kevin Sweeney 97

Congratulations
In recent months, we have had many brothers tie the knot with some very beautiful women. I’m not going to mention any names because I don’t want to leave anybody out, but I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate and wish them luck in their new marriages on behalf of all the rest of us. I would also like to wish luck to those brothers that have weddings approaching in the upcoming months. There have also been some new babies recently and there are also some on the way.
